Yeşil Cami  -  Green Mosque

   Named after  the  color  of  its  minaret,  which overlayed with green surface bricks, this mosque id the symbol of the city.

    Hacı Musa was the architect of this magnificient single domed mosque of early Ottoman period. Construction  was started in 1378 by Çandarlı  Hayrattin  Paşa, after his dead, his son Ali  Paşa completed the mosque.
  
A minaret  was erected on the right corner, its body decorated  with blue and green  tlies in a lighting shaped technique.This is an important Seljuk Minaret tradition reflecting early Ottoman art.
The  rectangular shaped interior was covered with domes and vaults, and the final congregation area has columns and pedestral with a marble mihrab.İt is 10.5 meters in diameter, whereas its vaults and banister embroidery illustrate a very god sample of marble work of the times.

Şeyh Kudbettin Cami - The Şeyh Kudbettin Mosque.
  This mosque was the first Ottoman monument to be built in İznik.It has square plan and its roof is covered with a tiled dome which has a diameter  of eight meters.It was built with cut stone and brick without minaret in 1333.
 
  The congregation area  was torn down  during the road contruc t ions  but later it is restored to its present location.It is known as Çarşı Mosque by the city residence.
This mosque bult by Çandarlı İbrahim Paşa in 14th century is right across from Nilüfer Hatun soup kitchen.The tomb is contructed after the death of Şeyh Kudbettin in 1418  with a squre plan and  a single dome.
